The SEVR clarinet has been carefully refined (from the original SEV) to give players unrivalled freedom of expression. A number of significant changes have been made to the instrument’s design allowing Yamaha to deliver a clarinet that meets clarinetists’ desires for a higher standard of clarinet.
Its beautiful tone, rich expressive capabilities throughout the dynamic range, and a tone with exceptional presence, Yamaha’s new SEVR/SEVR-A sets new standards in professional clarinet craftsmanship.
Key Plating:
Yamaha use a thicker key plating on these models, this is not only designed for durability but also it can affect the tonal response of the instrument, especially at higher volumes.
Bell & Barrel Design:
Yamaha have removed the scallop in the bell from the previous SEV model and also modified the barrel back to a classic internal shaping. Why? These changes are designed to focus the tone more clearly and give more projection and clarity to the sound.
New Ergonomics:
Specifically they have lengthened the C#/G# key by 2mm and modified the angle and action of this key so it sits more comfortably under the fingers when playing faster passages etc. A small but important tweak making this a very comfortable instrument to play.
Leather Pads:
Now with white leather pads that offer a more durable long term application and also 'clean up' the sound a little making the tone and voicing very even from top to bottom.

Apart of the SEVR My vintage Buffet clarinet was repaired. It had 3 chimney tone holes repaired/rebuild and a complete overhaul. The job was fantastic. It feels and plays as good as new. Well in tune . Well done. Great job.
