The CX is the first of the Yamaha Custom A clarinet range. All of which are hand finished and crafted in Japan. This is the latest CX A Clarinet model, released in 2022 that features a range of improvements including leather pads, a new thumbrest design, a modified low C/F left hand key mechanism and extended E/B levers and C#/G# keys. These technical changes make the instrument more comfortable to hold and play. Yamaha have also introduced a new surface polishing technique using a natural oil (that contains no additives) which help fully retain the natural tonal qualities of the wood.

The new CX design offers a full round sound with an immediate clarity to the tone. It has tapered toneholes and a silver-plated bell ring, which contribute to the presence and openness of its tone, ideal for the player specialising in solo or band playing.

The Custom CX offers the professional clarinettist a darker more powerful sound giving the player more versatility. Being the first in the range of custom series clarinets it has all of the benefits of a handcrafted clarinet at a very competitive price.
