Product Information

The new Vandoren V21 Clarinet reeds combine the conical shape of a 56 Rue L'Epic reed with a V12 profile. The V21 Clarinet reeds are perfect for performances that require the ability to handle large interval leaps efficiently with an even and rich tone.

This unique combination makes all registers of the clarinet more accessible with warmth and a depth of sound. It will allow you to play with amazing presence and immediate response.

Please note they are a little softer than the normal Vandoren blue box, and even a little softer than the V12 reeds. So, for example the new V21 reed no.3 is mid way between a classic blue box 2.5 and 3 and is just marginally softer than a V12 no.3. Early testing here in the shop has proved very positive with the reeds feeling responsive and flexible.

Fascinating the difference changing any element to your clarinet setup makes. For my daughter this reed sounded great on a spare BD5 mouthpiece she had. But not as good on her normal B40 with a vandoren traditional 2. As expected the V21 is definitely softer than a strength 2.5 Traditional reed. Daughters enjoying experimenting with a different sound.

Lovely reeds! This one gave a deeper and warmer tone with my buffet e11 and rovner ligature. Slightly more effort to play compared to v12 and as a result it's a bit harder for me personally to get crisp articulation but maybe need to just try a softer one. I really enjoyed the sound of this one though
