The Vandoren V12 reeds are manufactured from cane tubes with the same diameter as cane used for alto saxophone reeds. As a result, they have a thicker heel and are cut on a longer palette with a slightly thicker tip than the Traditional. This is well suited to mouthpieces with a longer lay, the longer palette means that more of the reed is vibrating, resulting in a deeper, richer sound. The thicker tip gives body to the attack and also increases the longevity of the reed.
However, if used on a mouthpiece with a short lay it can therefore have an unclear sound.

As with all packets, there are reeds that are excellent, some that are middling and others that poor immediately. I'm still working my way through the box. Some improve with playing. The reeds have a bright sound. However, I know i prefer the V12 reeds over other Vandoren reeds and other brands as I experimented with a variety ( over 6 ) a year ago. A matter of taste, but I find it has more 'soul' than a plastic reed, which I tend to use only when playing outside
Great price for reeds, came as expected
After trying several varieties of reeds during 50 years of Clarinet playing I settled on V12s around 5 years ago. Versatile, long lasting and producing a great all round sound means I’ll be sticking with V12 reeds.
I like these they go well with my ancient Van Doren 2RV mouthpiece!
Good brand God price efficient service
These reeds play well - better than standared Vandoren
The perfect clarinet reed for me.
I find these reeds are better than the standard Vandoren reeds - worth the extra money.
A new reed to me, but it is certainly better than what I have been using
Speedy service - thank you.
