The new Uebel Superior II professional model Clarinet follows on from the widely acclaimed success of the first Superior. This Model II continues to offer similar acoustic principles but with some upgrades to the materials used and slight modifications to alter the overall tone and intonation.
The Uebel Superior II is made from the finest, well chosen and seasoned Grenadilla wood. The bore shaping is designed to give a rich, centred tone with plenty of expression and even tuning across the scale. The tone holes are undercut in various stages to enhance the clarity, intonation and response of the instrument from top to bottom.
This Superior II model also features carbon joint rings, a feature also found on top models from Buffet and Yamaha and which is designed to allow free resonance of the instrument and reduce a little weight. The LPGoreĀ® pads offer a water resistant and long-lasting seal which should ensure perfect playability in any situation. The keywork layout has been optimised to feel even more comfortable ergonomically under the fingers.
One of the many aspects of the Uebels we have enjoyed is the fact they supply the instrument in an excellent case, with cover and high quality accessories. It seems obvious, but this is far too often an oversight by some manufacturers. In this case, the Superior II is supplied with a Vandoren B45 mouthpiece and Vandoren Klassik (German style) ligature. Of course players may have their own set-ups but at least Uebel are giving you the option, and the B45 with that ligature compliments the internal design of this instrument nicely.
In summary, a high-spec and beautifully made professional instrument from the German brand Uebel. This clarinet is on par with anything the competition has to offer and you may or may not be aware, but Uebel has an extremely long history of woodwind manufacturing (since 1936!) that is clearly evident in this new breed of clarinets. A top choice and one to make inroads against the Buffet, Yamaha, Backun equivalents.
