Design Principals

Driven by their team of designers, the Yamahatrumpet range offers a solution forplayers at every level. A great deal of research and development goes into the production of these instruments. Many of the developments that power the professional range also end up filtering down to the student and intermediate models. As such there is a consistent ‘character’ across the range.

Every detail is explored in minute detail, from the gauge and quality of the core brass, down to the positioning of each stay, tube and solder joint. These fine details all add up to make big differences and Yamaha’s investment in R&D is un-matched across the Brass instrument making world.

History & Progress

Yamaha have been making musical instruments since 1897. Their first Trumpet was the YTR-1 produced in 1966. Since then, they have developed and expanded the range. The famous Xeno Professional range were introduced in 1990 and firmly secured Yamaha into the upper echelons of brass production alongside many of the well-known US brands of years gone by.

Originally driven by designers with a passion to create an instrument that would be played in orchestras around the world, the Xeno Trumpet range has been firmly accepted and embraced in professional circles.

New developments have continued to be finessed and added in the last 10 years and they are currently producing the 4th Generation Xeno models. Many of the lessons learned from this Xeno Trumpet journey have also been applied to the mid-range Yamaha Trumpets. This means their famous 4, 5 and 6 series now offer serious playability for an affordable price.

Artist & Player Input

Consistent with all of Yamaha’s development principles, each Trumpet in the range is the result of years of research, design and feedback from top players around the world. Yamaha have multiple Atelier centres globally where their technicians meet with professional players to get feedback and explore new design principals.

With regards the Yamaha Trumpet range, testing takes place on core material differences, placement of all external components and internal bore shaping options. The ultimate goal always being to make the highest quality Trumpet that is best suited to its target audience. For example, the beginner Trumpet design needs to be lightweight and help new players make a consistent and easy-blowing sound. Whereas professional players will demand the instrument to react and respond differently depending on their playing style and the genre in which they play.

Artist & Player Input

Whatever your experience or musical preferences – there is a Yamaha Trumpet suitable for you. The technical process of production that Yamaha offers is unparalleled in today’s marketplace thanks to their continued investment in technology and design. Whether you’re looking to make your first steps into the Trumpet world or are a seasoned professional, Yamaha Trumpets offer you a fantastic sound and many years of happy ownership.
