This beautiful Selmer St Louis is a great pro level wooden option for the advancing clarinettist. The St Louis has a silver plated finish with a gold plated plaque and mixed gold and silver tenon rings. It benefits from the added left hand Eb key which can be useful for demanding passages of music.
The St Louis has the 'standard' 14.50mm bore that Selmer use for their Pro Clarinet range (the Recital is smaller and the Privilege is bigger). This 'standard' size makes it a very versatile instrument that can cope with a wide variety of musical playing environments. It has a very even scale from top to bottom in terms of tonal clarity and response. The Selmer range generally produces a richer, sweeter sound than the Buffets which can be more strident.
This clarinet comes with a Backun “Fatboy” barrel at 64.5mm which pitches the instrument nicely at A=442. The pads are leather throughout. This particular example is in very nice clean condition with no marks to the wood and comes supplied in a leather hard case. The Selmer models reward the Clarinettist who wants a real depth and quality to the tone, and this would be ideal for any advancing player wanting a top pro level choice without the expense of the modern pro Selmer clarinets.
