Finally Selmer have brought a new Jazz focussed mouthpiece to their Saxophone mouthpiece range. The new Jazz Flow models are made of premium hard rubber (ebonite) and are the first of a new range of Jazz models for all Saxophones (Alto, Tenor etc).
The Jazz Flow mouthpieces from Selmer are inspired by previous jazz models Selmer produced many decades ago. The name takes its heritage from the original ‘Air Flow’ model in the 1950s and the essence of flexibility, fluidity and vibrancy in the sound is inspired by the original Soloist models which are now so sought after. The tone is dense, with a perfect balance of warmth and projection.
Selmer have produced two tip openings for this Alto Jazz Flow mouthpiece, a No.5 (1.95mm) and a No.7 (2.05mm). The No.5 is a little easier to control and will suit a slightly harder reed set-up, whereas the No.7 is more free-blowing with a broader sound. The No.7 will generally work best with a slightly softer reed due to the larger tip opening.
Each mouthpiece is machined on digitally-controlled machinery used in the Swiss watchmaking industry. This machining process ensures perfect consistency and repeatability with a tolerance of less than 0.03mm. The mouthpieces are made with 30 essential checkpoints in production to ensure each Jazz Flow produced plays as well as the one before, and one after.

It’s a lovely mouthpiece and suits my Yani W02 really well. Was expecting to need to move to a harder reed due to the closer lay (previous mouthpiece was a Yani 6 lay). This hasn’t been necessary.
My son loves the Alto 7 Selmer Jazz Flow mouthpiece. Great quality and finish. Fast shipping in protective container always appreciated. I have enjoyed all past item’s received from Dawkes Music as well. Much appreciated, cheers
