The Mauriat brand burst onto the scene in the early-mid 2000s and marked the start of an influx of horns offering a Vintage style look and sound. This pre-owned PMXT-66R rolled tone-hole model is offered in the vintage finish. This particular example is in very good aesthetic order albeit with only very light signs of use. Mechanically it has been fully checked and set-up by us before sale, and is offered with a 6 month warranty.

The 66R model has a large bell to help with the depth and breadth of tone, and it also has the rolled tone holes which not only extend pad life and feel very smooth under the pads BUT it also affects how the instrument plays. Generally we would explain it as improving the immediacy of tone production and also it rounds out the sound and makes it less 'spiky' across the range.

Bearing in mind this is around £2,000 less than the new equivalent price it makes for a really great option especially when you compare it with what you can get new in this price point. The sound is quite dense and for want of a better word 'fruity'. It has some bite and punch when required and it can sound really rich when played in a small group environment as well.
