The Pearl PFB-305 is an incredibly responsive Bass Flute, with excellent projection. It has a full, rich tone across all 3 octaves with an astonishing range of tone colour and dynamic capabilities. The hand positioning is extremely comfortable, whilst the mechanism is exceptionally efficient and dependable.
This bass flute would be an excellent choice for any player in solo repertoire, chamber music or in a flute choir. This instrument:
The Pearl PFB-305’s head joint is designed to achieve dramatic resonance and ease of response. The wooden touch pads ensure a more secure hold of the instrument, alongside the hand turned T style left hand support. Not only are these touch pads ergonomic and stylish, but they also add a little weight and resistance to the key work, which in term alters the sound.
This instrument also comes with French pointed key-arms, which means that the key-arms run all the way into the centre of the keys, combining elegance with strength, stability and speed. In addition, this flute has a one-piece core-bar construction, which results in an extremely reliable mechanism that plays more comfortably, stays in adjustment, and is far easier to service than traditionally constructed flutes!
Like all Pearl flutes, their exclusive pinless mechanism is at the heart of the mechanics of this instrument. This design feature significantly reduces the levels of perspiration and body acid that can enter the mechanism, which almost eliminates the corrosion and binding of keys. This Pearl PFB-305 Bass Flute comes with an aluminium hard case, zippered case cover, a wooden cleaning rod and a cleaning cloth.

Suprisingly easy to play across the entire range, the weight is evenly balanced, and the keys are not too spread out. The tone is spot on with a mixture of bright and mellow. The "flight case" is actually a nice change and holds the instrument parts securely if opened at an angle unlike traditional cases, and has decent locking clamps like you get on sax cases.
Much loved and played by my daughter.
