The pBugle is a super lightweight and easy to play crossover between a toy and a musical instrument. It is robust enough for a young child to learn on and make their first playful steps into using a brass instrument.
Normal brass instruments are easily dented or damaged and require more regular maintenance. This pBugle is made from recyclable ABS plastic and it is super durable. It requires little to no maintenance and comes complete with a 7c mouthpiece which is designed to help new beginners turn their efforts easily into a sound.
The pBugle helps introduce new players to the fundamentals of brass playing such as buzzing, breathing, articulation and the harmonic series. It could also be used by more advanced players as a cheap and robust warm up instrument to be taken anywhere anytime!

Okay, this little gem gets 5 stars. I’m actually a sax player who plays bugle and a bit of trumpet so, I know my way around some brass. First off, I would consider this a valveless trumpet. It has a tuning slide on the front coil like a trumpet and a condensation drain key and, it’s reminiscent in size to the old fanfare trumpet/bugles I remember as a sea cadet back in the 1960s.
For the price the pBugle is an excellent value for money instrument which is a perfect low cost entry option for beginners and as a practice bugle or just as novelty and, is worth every penny.
Anyway, It plays straight out of the box and the beginners 7C plastic mouthpiece is comfortable. I had no problem playing the five bugle notes from low C through G, mid C, E and upper G. It’s light weight, sounds great and feels quite robustly made. Using a guitar tuner the pBugle’s low C came out spot on at Bb/A# so the tuning is good. One other really useful feature is, that the bell will take a standard Dennis Wick type straight and other trumpet mutes.
Don’t knock plastic instruments and mouthpieces. I use plastic mouthpieces on my saxes and trumpet and plastic has excellent acoustic properties.
