This is the Grand Dreams 285 model Alto Saxophone from P Mauriat. Finished in a stylish looking vintage ‘cognac-style’ lacquer, this new addition to their range sits in a very popular price point for first professional level Alto Saxophones.

The keywork layout has been carefully modified and improved to sit perfectly under the fingers. This has included work to the height and positioning of both the left and right hand key clusters. Particular attention was given to the palm and side keys to ensure they sit nicely in reach for the average hand size. Finally the octave key throw has been shortened to ensure a very positive and responsive action.

We like the fact the Mauriat range not only looks different, but importantly they sound different. This Grand Dreams AGD285 benefits from the Mauriat Super VI neck which gives plenty of projection, and a good balance of depth with enough sparkle. Thankfully there is some real ‘zing’ still, especially in the top-end of the Saxophone which is perfect for Alto when you need to cut through. The instrument looks great with it's unique lacquer colour, pearl touch pieces, and the hand-engraving on the bell.
