Product Information
The great Link metal mouthpiece known by all sax players as one of the bible mouthpieces for any saxophonist. The Super Tone Master (STM) has a large chamber and fairly long facing. The large chamber gives it some depth and warmth and the long facing makes for a fairly comfortable and controlled blow.
In terms of the STM vs other Link models (NY, Vintage, Florida etc) the STM has the smallest relative chamber compared to those other Link options and thus will offer the brightest, punchiest sound. It's worth remembering it's still a fairly large chamber in the grand scheme of things, just not as large as on some other Link options. It's worth noting whilst the chamber size and baffle can change, all Link metal pieces have the same facing curve.
These STM models are gold plated and come with a metal ligature with single screen and a plastic cap. The STM models are suitable for a wide range of playing and have become the standard by which we measure most other mouthpieces on Tenor Sax.

Lives up to the good reviews by the masses. Great tone and easy to blow for novice like me.
I had a #4* Super Tone Master (STM) and a #5 STM New York (NY) on 7 day approval from Dawkes. I liked the 4* STM the most. The STM has a brighter, more fundamental, centred tone, whereas the NY has a darker, warmer, spread tone. The STM has a nice deep low end, a tight mid range and top end, plus a broad dynamic range (it can whisper or scream.
