Keeping a tight seal where the neck meets the body is essential to good response on any saxophone.
This Neck Checker allows you to check the seal of a Tenor saxophone neck tenon. Its slick design and easy operation seals the neck from the rest of the instrument below the tenon and receiver. This allows you to check for leaks in the Tenon. You can use this tool with a physical suction test or attach the MusicMedic.com Leak Tester to find leaks at the tenon, solder joints, or even the smallest crack in the tubing.
How it is used:
Place the Neck Checker inside the body just below the body tenon and turn the knurled nut to expand the rubber washer. Once it is positioned properly, put your neck back on the body over the Neck Checker. Keeping the octave pip closed with the octave key or tape, suck/blow or attach your Leak Tester (available separately) to the end of the neck. If the Leak Tester reads zero or you feel so loss of pressure then there are no leaks in your tenon.
This MusicMedic.com Neck Checker gets its design from a tool originally made by Benedikt Eppelsheim in Munich, Germany.
Also available for Alto Saxophone neck tenons.
