The latest reed design from the leading synthetic brand Legere. This is the French Cut design for Clarinet. This new model is a refined symphonic-type reed which offers a dark, rich, strong sound with plenty of stability.
Legere have modified the profile to ensure an even distribution of material whilst retaining a thin tip. This combination of graduated material thickness and a thin tip design ensures a quick response with just subtle resistance. The sound is rich and resonant with plenty of projection across the range.
This new French Cut reed is produced using the same advanced material and technology used in the highly regarded Signature, European and American Cut reeds. Unlike other cuts though, the French Cut intentionally suppresses high-frequency overtones, this helps deliver a richer sound with more depth.
In terms of strengths; Legere suggest the French Cut is around a ¼ strength softer than the Signature Legere. So if you're used to a Signature #3, you would want a French Cut #3.25. A Vandoren cane traditional reed #2.5 is equivalent to a Legere French Cut #2.75. Please see the reed strength chart in the alternate product pics for more info.

I have been playing the clarinet on and off for nearly 60 years and I have never found a reed which is as responsive as this one is. It does not need warming up, it is responsive in all registers and it produces a good tone. I wish I'd discovered this reed sooner!
The reed is very easy to play on my Vandoren BD5 mouthpiece and responds well across the range. Good dynamics too. However plays very flat to start with and the very bottom of the instrument continues to be a little flat. My practice room is a bit chilly, which doesn’t help. I warm reed in my mouth and mouthpiece in my pocket to get to temperature more quickly.. I have a Selmer Presence clarinet and Vandoren Optimum ligature. Worth persevering for the consistency a synthetic reed will bring.
It's well responsive reed with good tone. I use French cut 3,25 and 3,5 on Selmer Focus
The same quality, but I haven't got the mouthpiece that plays well with it (too soft)
