Legendary mouthpiece maker Scott Laskey designed and manufactured his range of mouthpieces until his passing in 2018. Backun Musical Instruments acquired the Laskey company in 2019, and with all of Scott’s original designs and plenty of reverse engineering from mouthpieces loaned back by musicians. Taking advantage of Backun’s precision manufacturing CNC machines, these new trombone mouthpieces are now available.

Designed in conjunction with renowned trombonist and principal trombone of the New York Philharmonic Joseph Alessi from a heavy blank. The signature model also features a custom shaped rim which Joseph designed for comfort and endurance with excellent articulation. The signature mouthpieces are balanced and feel great to play, they speak well across the range, just the same as the classic trombone models. These mouthpieces ring out with a colourful, singing tone with precise and accurate articulation.

Available with 2 cup designs, the Solo and Symphonic. The Solo cup features the perfect balance of throat size, backbore cup and rim for a virtuosic, positive feel and sound. The Symphonic model is rich, full-blooded, dense in character, perfectly suited for the large, broad sound needed for the big romantic symphonies.
