When detached and stored the legs fit inside the peg and the whole unit can sit in the end of your Trumpet or Cornet bell inside the case. This is one of many of this type of instrument stand I have, because of the excellent space saving storage. Some I've had for many years in constant use and showing no signs of wear or damage. Excellent product.
