Product Information

The DV Chicago model Tenor Sax mouthpiece is quite unique in its design and tonal production. Originally designed by Jody Espina to deliver the most 'efficient' Tenor mouthpiece it offers a HUGE full sound with plenty of depth and fatness.

The DV CHI produces a darker tone that is less bright than the contemporary sounding JodyJazz DV but it is a little brighter than the DV NY which is very dark. So, it sits in the middle in terms of bright/dark but we find due to the beautifully shaped baffle and chamber it really offers some low end power with a full and solid tone.

Jody Espina likens this model to a 'Dexter Gordon-esque' sound but with the ability to crossover into a more modern sounding piece when pushed accordingly. We find it's simply a joy to play and this design really suits the natural voice of the Tenor with its lush low end but powerful upper register.
