The Gonzalez GD reeds are made from a cane with a classic French Cut, not totally dis-similar to the Vandoren V12.
They are made with a thicker blank and a larger diameter material than the standard clarinet reeds. This material is normally used in the manufacture of Alto saxophone reeds and can give a richer sound. They are the first Gonzalez reeds with a French Filed Cut, the GD’s have a longer scraping area and more wood in the heel, therefore they are quite vibrant and long lasting.
For those experimenting the Vandoren equivalent to GD = V12/V21. Please check the alternate image for the reed strength chart to find the right strength compared to your usual reeds.

I had one of these reeds in the mixed bag of reeds, so now have taken delivery of a box as impressed with them, lovely sound and seem to last well.
Consistency of product. A typical box of Gonzalez reeds has very few, if any, duds.
I have just acquired a new mouthpiece for my B&H 1010 clarinets, and I am like a boy with a new toy! So now I am trying different reeds. The Gonzalez GD reeds suit me very well. Every reed in the box produces the same free blowing quality with a pure and rich sound. What a discovery!
This is the first time I've bought Gonzalez GD reeds. I'm still playing them in. But they all work, which is great compared to D'Darrio or Vandoren. The sound I am producing is better than with my old Vandoren V21.
Very consistent reed and I can get a good sound from them.
First class . They are very good once I found the correct strength
High quality cane, very flexible.
Have been using these for a while, always good consistency and can use all the reeds in the box.
Tried these on a B45 mouthpiece as they were recommended as a good alternative to the V12 reeds. I ordered a slightly softer reed than I would have, but actually they are too soft, so I'd say they do equal the V12 strength. All these reeds play really well straight out of the box (unlike V12's which I find only some work nicely) So far, I'm convinced by them!
Reed for myself
