This excellent Renard Model 222D bassoon by Fox is designed for the advancing young performer. Originally patterned after the Fox Model II it features a select aged maple body and full German key system in silver plate. Essentially it's a great option for any first serious Bassoon purchase and is comparable to the Schreiber S16 and Adler 1367/8 models.Made 100% in the USA, Fox Bassoons are premium instruments with excellent mechanics and a beautiful tone. Their range is played across the world and chosen by leading professionals. This Model 222D is a highly regarded first step-up model and would last an advancing student until the very high echelons of playing.
The Fox Bassoon company was originally started in 1949 when professional player Hugo Fox retired from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. He set out to make double reed instruments that would satisfy the most discerning artists. Today, the Fox company continue the art of hand-crafting instruments in the same place it all started: South Whiley, Indiana, USA.
