Why does Fibracell sound so good? Because it's not plastic and it's not cane. It's the most highly developed composite structure ever engineered for woodwinds!

I bought a 3.5 strength and it was labelled as such, but my son said it felt like a strength 2 reed. I'm hoping Dawkes will agree to take it back given that it is not as described. I'm disappointed that Dawkes's prominent "No quibble 14 day money back" statement displayed on the product page is so misleading, as now that I've looked at their detailed terms they say it doesn't apply to reeds including synthetic ones if they have been opened and tried.
The supplier responded:Dear customer, Many thanks for your message, I have emailed you directly to discuss a possible solution. The reason we don't accept returns on any reeds including synthetic is purely for hygiene. Many synthetic reeds, fibracell included, are actually porous and so cannot be sterilised. There is no universal standard for reed strengths, however, there are comparison charts available and our woodwind specialists are always happy to help and advise on reed strength. Kind regards, Matt Sanders - Dawkes Sales
For me these are the best synthetic reeds out there. They play straight away & produce a sound which is very traditional. They last longer than cane, but not incredibly so! - but they are priced properly to reflect this, unlike some other brands which are very expensive.
Has made a huge difference to the instrument response. Was unsure but decided to give them a try. I’ll continue to use instead of reeds from now on
Just as expected, perfect
I borrowed a Fibracell reed from a friend ( you are able to clean these up as they are non porous unlike cane reeds) and it sounded OK and was responsive. So ordered two. One was OK the other was very good. They are expensive but when they work straight from the box and will last a lot longer then can reeds then it's definitely worth it. I will be using these for my Alto sax in future and may try one for my clarinet.
