The new model ETS852 from Eastman has been developed with the legendary saxophonist Bob Mintzer. The instrument has a full, rich, beautiful Tenor sound across the whole range and is packed with features and little bonuses that make it such an attractive outfit.
The relationship between Eastman and Bob Mintzer has been in place for a number of years, and this new model ETS852 represents the advancement of the Eastman brand and offers the market a unique sounding instrument.
The larger bell helps afford a full, rich, juicy sound which on Tenor is particularly appreciated at the lower end of the instrument. The expertly crafted rolled tone holes also add to that feeling of width in the sound and help offer an immediate response.
The outfit is complete with two different necks (S and M models) both developed with careful input from Bob Mintzer. These two options allow you to modify your set-up depending on what sound and response you prefer. The ‘M’ neck has a broader taper design which offers an even larger, full-bodied response. The ‘S’ neck is perhaps a little more centred and dense sounding.
The unlacquered finish looks stunning and these horns evince that vintage American cool and swashbuckling look and sound. The keywork also benefits from the Eastman DS mechanism which provides long-lasting performance and a reliable action across the whole instrument. The outfit is complete with a high F# key and deluxe case including backpack straps and pockets.
