Innovation & Design
Yamaha have invested heavily in design and research in the brass world for many decades. The latest chapter in this heritage has been the introduction of the Neo range of professional brass, specifically designed for brass bands. The Cornet has such an important role in the brass band sound and as such Yamaha have paid special attention to the tonal quality and performance of this range.
These developments have come alongside feedback from professional players around the world. Importantly, the lessons learned, and innovations created are not solely applied to the professional Cornets, but they filter down to the mid and student models to ensure a harmonious tonal experience across the range.
Experience & Quality
Yamaha have been making wind instruments for over 120 years. Throughout this long development period they have started as generalists in many areas then gone on to be specialists through a series of investments, internal structure and by embracing state-of-the-art technology and design.
During the 1970s the Cornet range was introduced to Yamaha’s Japanese production plant. Since then, they have gone on to expand the range significantly, and most importantly they have improved the quality beyond measure. Now, many professionals choose Yamaha Cornets in the leading brass bands around the world.
Model Differences
A full range of Cornets are available from Yamaha. The beginner model starts at the 2330 series. This offers a very reliable, easy blowing and great sounding way to start out on the Cornet. From there the next model up is the 4330. This features different quality materials such as gold brass to help give added warmth and sonority to the tone. This would be an ideal model for the upgrading player or perhaps keen amateur.
The professional Yamaha cornets are now called the Neo range. These took over from the Xeno models which although popular had not benefitted from such a deep investment into the desire for that elusive brass band tone. The Neo Cornet range is the result of many years of consultation, modification and design to achieve just the right sound. It features different options such as gold brass vs yellow brass models, all of which allow the player to choose the instrument that best represents their tonal desires.
Choosing a Yamaha Cornet
Across the three model ranges of Yamaha cornets, there is something for every level of player. Top quality core brass, reliable and fast valve actions, excellent intonation and amazing tonal response are at the heart of every Yamaha Cornet.
