This is a nice example of a 1949 Conn 6M 'Naked Lady' Alto Sax with the micro-tuner mechanism on the neck with some usual aesthetic wear on the lacquer and keywork. We also believe that this may have had a re-lacquer, albeit quite a while ago.
The instrument is in excellent mechanical order and has been set-up in our workshop prior to sale so you can be sure it's blowing beautifully. We have given this timeless classic a full re-pad with Pisoni Premium Deluxe domed-metal resonator pads, our highest quality woven felt pad. Also including all new corks and felts with all the routine regulation and venting has been checked and adjusted where necessary. All standard in our top-quality level of service.
More importantly than anything this 6M has a beautiful sound which is quite distinguishable compared to modern day horns. The underslung neck gives a feeling of immediacy to the tone and perhaps more brightness in the attack. The micro-tuner mechanism is present and correct on the neck and this instrument also has pearl rollers and the swivel right hand thumb hook.
In summary this is a nice example of the 6M model with various features including pearl touch pieces, the micro-tuner neck and rolled tone holes. The sound is pure jazz and is a real stand out when compared to modern Saxes.
