This is a classic Conn 10M Tenor model with the 'naked lady' engraving. We date this Sax to 1950/51 from the serial number which is about midway in the Conn production of these models from 1935-1971. This particular example is in pretty nice overall condition, although the original lacquer is almost completely worn away. The exposed and aged brass has a gorgeous patina
The Conn 10M is widely regarded as a great rock'n'roll and jazz saxophone. It has a vibrant and punchy sound which is quite unique compared to many modern instruments. It feels rougher around the edges tonally which is actually quite endearing as there is something more characterful about it than the rather 'polished' sound of many new horns.
This type of Sax is something we'd strongly encourage you to come and try out - especially if you've not used something of this vintage before. They feel quite different under the fingers but that's something you soon get used to. The pay off is having something that feels truly alive in your hands, with a unique tone and response that is quite joyous.
