Buescher is one of the old names in the US saxophone world, still sought after today despite some of these instruments being over 100 years old! Here we have a gorgeous Buescher Bass Sax seeking a new owner to cherish it.

Belonging to the late, local legend and pro-musician Tony Whennell, this particular Buescher bass is nothing short of a magnificent beast, whilst also being incredibly effortless to blow. Despite everyone in the workshop lining up to give this thing a blow, this sax is in need of a deserving, new forever-home.

We have dated this sax to 1929 and it has evidence that it has certainly lived an exciting life, with this unique custom finish which has some wear in places. It has also had a big service done here in 2023 where it also had a “Bis” key added, to give that added flexibility and give a more modern ergonomic feel.

Unusually, we have chosen not to overhaul this horn before it’s sale as it’s still in such great playing order despite the pads being fairly old. That being said, there is space for flexibility whereby we will offer the buyer up to 4 hours of set-up and labour time to customise the set up however you feel comfortable.
