The new Backun Q Series Bass Clarinets (to low C) are a very welcome addition to the marketplace. Carrying on their now decades of clarinet innovation the Backun team have finally turned their eyes on the Bass Clarinet…and it's been worth the wait!
Why Choose a Backun Q Series Bass Clarinet?
The Q Series Bass Clarinets have been developed with a major focus on creating instruments with exceptional intonation across the range, and with the most reliable and exquisitely engineered mechanism. These instruments feature a triple register mechanism, over and under-cut tone holes, and a superbly ergonomic low C mechanism.
Like all the Backun instruments, the Q Series Bass looks fantastic and this particular specification is for the Grenadilla wood with silver plated keywork, arguably the most ‘traditional’ looking set-up. The Grenadilla is selected from only the finest premium, unstained exotic hardwood stock and tends to give a more direct ping and projection compared to the ‘softer’ sounding Cocobolo.
Technical Specifications:
There are a host of mechanical developments and innovations that Backun have brought to the Q Series. Some examples include the triple octave mechanism, articulated G# mechanism, advanced adjustment screws, adjustable thumb rest, customer black leather pads, and a perfectly designed Low C mechanism.
The outfit is complete with a Custom Marcus Bonna Compact Low C Bass Clarinet case with integrated Bass Clarinet stand straps (stand not included). There is a polishing cloth, large double-sided swab for pulling through, cork grease and of course a peg. Like all our Bass Clarinets each instrument is carefully checked, set-up and tested in the Dawkes workshop before to sale to ensure optimum performance.
