Finally a manufacturer has embraced the idea of a Low C Bass Clarinet in an affordable (and lightweight!) synthetic material. This is the Backun Alpha Bass Clarinet to Low C. with silver-plated keys. It's essentially a professional specification but in a material that students and advancing players alike can both afford and handle comfortably.

The Alpha Bass series (they also make a Low Eb model) leverages the same acoustical design and durable key mechanism found on the Q Series Professional Bass Clarinet range. The body however is not wood, but an incredibly lightweight and durable synthetic material. The keywork is triple-strike plated to ensure a long-lasting finish.

For many years we've been advising (pestering in fact!) various suppliers to create this combination of Low C but in a synthetic body.
