This privacy policy sets out how Dawkes Music uses and protects any information that you give us when you:

Dawkes Music is committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. Should we require certain information by which you can be identified when dealing with us on any platform, then you can be assured that it will only be used in accordance with this privacy statement. Dawkes Music may change this policy from time to time by updating this page. To ensure that you are happy with any changes we would recommend reviewing this page at your convenience. This policy is effective from 22/05/2018.

We require this information to fulfil your order and to contact you about your order. We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure, we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online and in-store.

If you believe that any information we are holding on you is incorrect or incomplete, or indeed if you would like to arrange deletion of any records please write to us using the address above or email us (info@dawkes.co.uk) as soon as possible. We will promptly correct any information accordingly.

Third party companies

Your data is never sold or passed on to any other third party company for marketing purposes. In certain circumstances we will share relevant delivery details with our logistics partners and Royal Mail. This is to enable us to fulfil your order to the given address. We offer payment options from Deko, PayPal, Go Cardless and SagePay, all of whom may act as a 'data processor' for your information when processing an order with Dawkes Music. We will also send a product and service review request after each transaction using the company Feefo (see full info on this below in 'Product Reviews'). These companies are not allowed to use your data for any other purpose than to successfully fulfil your payment, deliver your goods or take your review submission. Each company has their own Privacy Policy on their websites should you wish to check any details concerning how they may handle your data.

Marketing communications consent

We fully respect the privacy of all customers and their decision to opt in or out of email marketing communications from Dawkes Music. During the checkout process online and in-store you will be given the option to 'Opt-In' to marketing communications. The 'Opt-In' offer requires your action and explicit consent to be activated. If you do not give explicit consent you will not be contacted with any marketing communications.

Should you consent to receive email marketing communications you can 'Opt-Out' at any time by using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of each email, by using this unsubscribe link which is also shown at the bottom of each web page on dawkes.co.uk or by contacting us by email (info@dawkes.co.uk) or telephone (01628 630800) or visiting in-store.

Shopping communications consent

We collect and process some personal data to contact you regarding legitimate interests you may have shown in specific products from our offerings. You can ‘Opt-Out’ of these email communications at any time using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of each email, Specifically, we analyse information on our customers and their orders online in order to provide better services and more relevant content.

Marketing communications consent - Rental Customers

When taking out an instrument rental contract with Dawkes Music we reserve the right to contact you via the email address provided to provide relevant financial information about your rental contract. The contract between Dawkes Music and the Rental Customer forms the legal basis for us to send periodic relevant email communications regarding your rental contract with us. These emails are not part of our standard marketing communications, they serve to inform you about your rental contract details only.

We fully respect the privacy of all customers and should you wish to Opt-Out of receiving these Rental email communications please contact us via accounts@dawkes.co.uk or on the telephone: 01628 630 800. We will then implement other methods to contact you regarding your rental contract with Dawkes Music.

Customers who are receiving rental communication emails can choose to 'Opt-In' or 'Opt-Out' of our standard marketing communications at any time.

Links to other websites

Our website may contain links to other websites of interest. However, once you have used these links to leave our site, you should note that we do not have any control over that other website. Therefore, we cannot be responsible for the protection on and the privacy of any information which you provide whilst visiting such sites and such sites are not governed by this privacy statement. You should exercise caution and look at the privacy statement applicable to the website in question.

Product Reviews

Dawkes Music will request a product and service review via email after any transaction. This is a one-off request which is solely related to the transaction and product in question, it is not part of our standard marketing communications. Review requests are regarded as 'Market Research' and as such we are not under obligation to ask for permission however you can choose not to receive the request at the checkout stage online or in person when dealing with us in store. We use Feefo to collect our review requests (they act as a 'data processor') and you can see their privacy policy here.

We also allow certain product reviews through our website. Reviews are manually checked before they appear on the site. We show all reviews, good or bad as long as they relate to the product. It is not possible for you to edit/remove your review after submission. We may at our discretion accept or reject any product review which may be submitted to us and may edit any such review for both length and/or content as we see fit. If you require any further information on this service or wish to have your review removed you can contact sales@dawkes.co.uk.
