Conn 88HNV Trombones are Conn’s first update to the 88H range in 20 years, and they’ve done a marvellous job of improving what is already the standard for orchestral trombones. The biggest change here is in the rotor section and Conn have refined their “open wrap” to offer slightly less resistance than the classic closed wrap and slightly more than the standard open wrap. Transitions between Bb and F tuning with the trigger are now even more seamless. The trigger is finished with an ergonomic wooden paddle.

The bell has also been refined to give more projection and power with the classic Conn sound, and it is finished with a gorgeous vintage styled engraving which harks back to classic designs of past trombones. The handslide is very familiar, rose brass outer legs help to save a little weight and retain the tonal qualities of classic Conns.

This instrument is only a couple of years old, and is in excellent order, aesthetically there is hardly a mark on it, just the usual signs of use with the odd surface scratch and a mark or two at the high contact points on the instrument. The case is a brilliant new design, slimline and lightweight with a “quilted” leather finish to the top side of the case. It also features backpack straps for easy carry. There is no mouthpiece supplied with this trombone. Like all our pre-owned instruments this Trombone has been fully checked and set-up in our workshop prior to sale.
